Summit Lake Winery’s
Wine List
Norton
A deep, complex, dry red wine made solely from the Norton grape variety. Oak-aged for one year with extended skin contact, the “Cabernet of the Ozarks” is known for its intensive richness and long finish. Perhaps the best native American red grape, it yields wines that are full, well-balanced, agreeable, and not “foxy”. The Norton is complemented well with steak and other red meats and dark chocolate desserts.
Legend
A medium-bodied red wine made from the Norton and Chambourcin grape varieties; fruity berry aroma with a touch of earthy/spicy complexities.
St. Martin
A medium-bodied wine made from Norton and Chambourcin grapes. This wine is named after the St. Martin Catholic Parish and Summit Lake Winery is donating a dollar back to the parish for each bottle sold.
Chardonel
A unique, dry wine done in traditional Chardonnay oak style; made from a grafted cross between the California Chardonnay and the Seyval variety of vines, perfect with seafood.
Lewis & Clark
A medium bodied dry white wine. A blend of Seyval, Vidal Blanc, and Vignoles grapes give this complex French-style a crisp finish of ripe pear and grapefruit.
Vidal Blanc
A dry white wine with a crisp rich finish is excellent with smoke meats or a vegetable stir-fry. Vidal is a descendant of the St. Emilion grape, a winter-hardy and widely planted French-American hybrid that ripens late. The grape produces a very good “German” style wine when made in stainless steel fermenters, to a “French” style when aged in oak.
Callaway Bluff
A blend of Vidal Blanc and Muscat grapes, gives this semi-dry, German-style white wine a clean light finish with floral aromas and fruity flavors.
St. Andrew
A semi-dry, blended red wine made from the Norton and St. Vincent grapes. This wine is named after the local Catholic parish and Summit Lake Winery is donating a dollar back to the parish for each bottle sold.
Kingdom Bluff
A semi-sweet German white wine with apple-like crispness, blended with Seyval, Vivant, and Riesling grapes. Perfect for the cheese and fruit picnic basket. The Seyval grape is a descendant of the Chardonnay and is on e of the best known French-American hybrids. The Vivant grape (another grape resembling a light chardonnay) and the Riesling grape (famous for its outstanding reputation from the German Rhine and Mosel valleys) comes from New York State where they grow best in relatively cool conditions.
So Blue
A luscious sweet white wine with peach, strawberry and kiwi fruit characteristics. A blend of Vidal Blanc, Seyval, Vivant, and Riesling grapes. Try with Mexican food instead of Margaritas.
Eberbach Red
A sweet red wine full of rich blackberry characteristics, vented from a blend of Concord and StarkStar grapes. A great after-dinner wine that makes a great wine cooler when mixed with sparkling grape juice. The Concord is one of the most hardy and productive grapes, adaptable to an astonishing variety of soils and climates.
Summit Mist
A sweet white wine made from the Cayugo grape; a soft, delicate wine with a fresh floral finish. Great with fruits and cheesecakes, Cayuga is a vigorous French-American hybrid, developed in New York State in 1974, and grown mostly in New York.
Missouri Port
This blend of Norton grapes is fortified with alcohol during fermentation, which gives this hand-bottled, sweet dessert wine, subtle aromas of pepper and truffles. Port goes very well with cheddar cheese or chocolate.
